Midland Flood Information

We have provided some frequently asked questions that may assist you:

My property is not in a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) requiring flood insurance, so I did not purchase flood insurance. Will I have any flood coverage?

If the county your property is located in is approved for Federal Disaster Assistance, FEMA assistance may be available for you. You will need to contact FEMA to see if disaster assistance is available for your property. You have up to 60 days after the disaster is declared to apply for disaster assistance from FEMA.

How do I contact FEMA?

There are several ways to contact FEMA to determine if your property qualifies for Federal Disaster Assistance.

  • FEMA Helpline - 800.621.3362
  • FEMA Website - www.disasterassistance.gov
  • Download the “FEMA” App available in the App Store or Google Play Store

My property is not in a flood zone. Can I still purchase flood insurance?

Yes. However, there is a 30 day wait on new flood insurance policies.

I have flood insurance on my property and have a claim, or I have damage to the car or boat that secured my loan. Who can I contact at Independent Bank to report a claim loss?

A Loan Servicing Representative can assist you. Loan Servicing Representatives are available 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (ET) Monday-Friday at 800.355.0641 and select option 4, then option 5. Please be prepared to provide a copy of the insurance claim check and summary of damages to the representative. Or, you may email your claim information to InsuranceServicing@ibcp.com. If you are emailing, please provide a phone number and best time of day to reach you, so a representative can contact you with questions.

We encourage you to stay tuned to local news for important updates from your local government and FEMA.
