Enhanced Fraud Protection Service

To further protect you and your account, Independent Bank offers an enhanced Fraud Protection Service.

In the unlikely event we detect potentially fraudulent debit card transaction(s) on your account, you will receive a real-time interactive text message, phone call, and/or email asking you to verify the validity of the transaction(s). We will ONLY ask you to verify transaction(s) via a text message or email, but if we contact you by phone, you will need to verify additional information such as your birth date and zip code. Keeping you protected is important to us, and we are excited to offer this enhanced service to you!

What You Need To Know:

  • Each Independent Bank Debit MasterCard® customer is automatically enrolled in this service.
  • Transaction(s) identified by Independent Bank as potentially fraudulent will trigger these alerts.
  • Text messages will only be sent from 7 am-10 pm (ET), calls will only be made from 8 am-9 pm (ET), and emails will be sent 24 hours per day. Any potentially fraudulent transactions made between 10 pm and 7 am (ET) will result in the receipt of an email ONLY until texting and calling hours are available.
  • Customers who respond to the alert verifying the validity of the transaction(s) will need to wait up to 5-10 minutes before attempting the transaction(s) again. If the transaction(s) are fraudulent, Independent Bank will work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
To ensure we have the most up-to-date information, please confirm your mobile phone number and your email address by speaking with a representative at an Independent Bank office, OR sign in to Online Banking to verify or update your information. Once logged in, click the Customer Service tab and navigate down to Manage Contact Information. Keep your account and personal information safe with free email or text alerts!

Sign up in 4 easy steps:

  1. Log into Online Banking.
  2. Click the Customer Service drop-down, and select Manage Alerts under Contact Options.
  3. Select the account(s) for which you would like to receive either an email or text alert.
  4. Activate all or any of the available alerts, such as:
    • Daily Account Balance
    • Debit Card Transaction - card not present
    • Debit Card Transaction - made out-of-state
    • Debit Card Transaction - above a chosen amount
