Equifax Data Breach Settlement Scam

    Beware of Fake Websites

In the wake of Equifax announcing they would be paying up to $700 million to victims of their 2017 data breach, many scams have recently surfaced. In order to determine whether or not you are eligible for compensation, you must enter personal information, such as your Social Security number. Fake websites posing as the Equifax settlement site are illegally attempting to gain access to this sensitive information.

If you are trying to determine whether or not you are eligible for compensation, and/or submit a settlement claim, make sure you are starting at the Federal Trade Commission’s website: FTC.gov/Equifax.
