Express Loan Pay FAQs

Answers to Common Questions About Our Express Loan Pay Options.

Will my payment post today?
Yes, it will show as paid today. However, please note that your bank may take 3–5 business days to transfer the funds.
Why was my payment returned if I have a confirmation number?
The confirmation number confirms that we requested the funds, but your bank has 3–5 business days to complete the transfer. If the transfer is declined, the payment will be returned.
Can I use a debit or credit card to make a payment?

No, payments must be made using your bank's routing and account numbers. These can typically be found at the bottom of a check.

Can I pay off my mortgage online?
No, mortgage payoffs require verified funds such as a cashier’s check, cash, or a wire transfer. Only consumer loans can be paid off online or over the phone.
Can I make a principal-only payment?
Yes. Principal-only payments can be made through Express Loan Pay or by transferring funds from an Independent Bank account. If the payment comes from an external account, our loan payments team will apply the funds to the principal balance within 1–2 business days.
When will I receive my title or lien release after paying off my loan?
Independent Bank verifies payoff funds within 5 business days. Lien releases and titles (if held by the bank) are then mailed to the address on file.
I received a refund check from my insurance company. What should I do with it?
We recommend depositing the refund back into your escrow account. This helps reduce the chance of a shortage during your next escrow analysis. Payments can be mailed in or made through Express Loan Pay using your bank's routing and account numbers.
Can I pay off a loan through Express Loan Pay?
Yes, consumer loans can be paid off through Express Loan Pay, but mortgages cannot.
Can I schedule recurring payments?
Yes, recurring payments can be scheduled.
When will my payment post to my account?
Payments typically post within 24 hours.
What is the minimum and maximum payment I can make per day?

You can make payments from $0.01 up to $25,000 per loan over the phone.
