Independent Bank is excited to partner with Freddie Mac to offer Freddie Mac GreenCHOICE Mortgages,® providing customers with a green solution to financing energy-efficient home improvements. 

The Freddie Mac GreenCHOICE Mortgage allows customers to purchase or refinance an existing home and finance completed or to-be-completed energy and water efficiency improvements/repairs through the mortgage. Customers have the ability to close on their mortgage prior to the completion of these improvements.

Energy-efficient homes often come with lower utility costs and increased home comfort. Eligible efficiency improvements include:

- Programmable thermostats
- Caulking and weather stripping
- Adding ceiling, wall, or floor insulation
- Air sealing
- Air conditioning/heating replacement to high-efficiency unit(s)
- Solar water heaters
- Low-flow water fixtures
- High-efficiency refrigerators/freezers, water heaters, and light bulbs
- Replacement of windows and doors
