With a broad commercial banking background based on 30 years of experience, Joel leads Independent Bank’s Commercial Banking team in West Michigan. After graduating from Central Michigan University, he started his banking career with National Bank of Detroit. Before joining Independent Bank in 2018, Joel served on the executive management team for Byron Bank, and then as Regional President for Chemical Bank. Joel’s current community involvement includes serving on the finance committee for the Right Place Program, and as a board member of Bethany Christian Services.
