Independent Bank is proud to announce it has raised $2,344 for the March of Dimes.

Independent Bank’s offices in Ionia, Saranac, Belding and Carson City recently participated in raising funds through a variety of activities. Associates participated in special jean days, hosted a bake sale as well as walked for the cause at the March for Babies walk. The walk was held at the Farmers Insurance Company campus in Grand Rapids on April 27.

Commercial Loan Assistant Joann Witter of the Ionia Main office is the captain for Independent Bank’s team and has participated in the event for 20 years. Witter says, “The March for Babies walk is a fun, family event that’s pet friendly, too! Independent Bank sponsors the pet station where the dogs can get a drink and a treat. The funds that we raise go toward helping parents with a child born prematurely and education for pregnant women.”

The March of Dimes helps moms have full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies. The March of Dimes celebrated their 75th anniversary this year.
