Independent Bank will still offer free checking

Independent Bank has restructured and updated its retail checking lineup at its offices throughout Michigan starting February 15.

Independent Bank has simplified and customized its checking products – Classic, Custom and Complete – so that customers can choose only the services they need. For example, Independent Bank offers a free checking account that is designed for everyone but may be just the right fit for students and young professionals starting their careers. Customers who want mobile banking and a competitive interest rate may be interested in the Custom account or the Complete account which offers extra benefits, club perks and competitive interest rates.

Customers can now select from a list of features which are included with all Independent Bank’s new checking accounts:

  • Free Visa® debit card
  • No per check charge, unlimited check writing and check safekeeping
  • Free online banking, bill pay and e-statements
  • Free Classic Text
  • Free telephone banking and free teller transactions

Mobile banking is another option of the new accounts. Independent Bank uses the latest mobile banking technology to ensure accounts and identities are safe and secure. Real-time access gives customers the freedom and flexibility to stay connected to their money. Independent Bank is also introducing its Classic Text banking service that allows customers to check their balance for free from their cell phone or smart phone.
