This spring Independent Bank will be helping people in Michigan communities enhance their financial literacy through Money Smart, a training program designed to aid adults outside the financial mainstream sharpen their money management skills and create positive banking relationships.
The Money Smart Week initiative was developed to increase financial literacy and provide education to consumers. During the week of April 2-9, a variety of seminars and events will be held to educate people in personal finance. The more they know about credit and banking services, the more likely they are to save, buy homes and improve their financial health. The Money Smart curriculum focuses on building financial knowledge, developing financial confidence and using banking services effectively.
During the week, educational events will take place at various times and locations across the state. All will provide consumers with education on personal finance and money management. The classes will be on a variety of topics and will be carried out by members of the Michigan Money Smart Advisory Council (MAC). To learn more, visit moneysmartweek.org/michigan.
