Community members and organizers will join together for the Chili-Dawg Challenge on Thursday, October 24. The annual event, which raises money for Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region, features 10 chili dog vendors. It’s held in conjunction with the Autumn Celebration where local businesses host trick-or-treating for children as well as a costume contest for children and pets.
The event brings local restaurants and community groups together in a mission to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ local mentoring programs. Vendors create and sell their own unique chili dogs, donating ingredients, supplies and all proceeds. In a friendly competition, vendors will race to sell the first 400 dogs and be named “People’s Choice.”
The Chili-Dawg Challenge is from 4 until 8 pm, and the Chili Dawg Eating Contest begins at 6:45 pm. Vendors will be located on Main Street in front of the Ionia Theatre. To register for the contest, call 616.527.2321 or sign up the day of the event at the stage.
“Independent Bank is proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters through the Chili-Dawg Challenge,” said Jennifer Meyers, community banking vice president. “We’re looking forward to participating and we enjoy seeing the community team up to support this great organization.”
