Independent Bank is making saving fun for kids with a new promotion and a page on IndependentBank.com for their Swift! savings account. When young savers open a Swift! savings account they’ll receive a Swift! coin holder. When they fill it up and bring it back, they’ll receive a matching $5 deposit from Swift!
Independent Bank’s eagle mascot, Swift!, encourages young people under 18 to begin saving early. With a minimum $25 deposit savers can open a Swift! savings account. The savings account earns interest, plus there’s no minimum balance and no fees for children under 18. Children and parents can learn more about the Swift! savings account on the Swift! page.
In conjunction with the savings promotion, Independent Bank associates throughout Michigan are working with local community groups and schools to educate children and adults of all ages about the importance of money management, saving and financial responsibility.
The Teach Children to Save program connects bankers with kids for savings education lessons. Independent Bank associates use their real-life experiences and their knowledge to motivate students to become lifelong savers.
The annual Teach Children to Save Day is on April 24. Interested groups are encouraged to contact their local Independent Bank office about financial literacy education. A complete list of locations can be found online.
