Independent Bank associates statewide teamed up in a fundraising effort to help those in need following the severe storms in Oklahoma this spring. The bank held a bank-wide jean day to raise money for the American Red Cross and for every dollar that an associate contributed, Independent Bank matched it at 100%.
Independent Bank’s Senior Vice President Denise Wheaton said, “We are pleased to contribute $7,000 to support the American Red Cross and its mission to help those affected by the storms. Our associates generously contributed to the effort to help our neighbors in a community hundreds of miles away.”
The check was presented at the American Red Cross of West Michigan in Grand Rapids on Thursday, June 27.
“The Red Cross of West Michigan is extremely grateful for the generosity of businesses like Independent Bank who give to Red Cross disaster relief,” said Dean Herried, Regional Chief Development Officer for the American Red Cross of West Michigan. “This gift will allow the Red Cross to continue to assist people who have been affected by the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma, where we continue to provide necessities and resources as folks there work to rebuild their lives.”
