On October 18, Independent Bank will celebrate the American Bankers Association Education Foundation’s 10th annual Get Smart About Credit Day in high school classrooms, explaining wise credit use.
The Get Smart About Credit program is a national campaign of volunteer bankers who help teens and young adults learn the “how-to’s” of credit. Get Smart About Credit Day is an opportunity to engage students in their financial future. They share ways to use credit wisely and explore terms like “APR” and “credit scores” with students.
Get Smart About Credit Day brings bankers and students together for lessons on developing good credit habits, such as paying on time, protecting your identity, using credit wisely and not borrowing more than you can repay.
Independent Bank values the communities it serves and strives to give back through financial education and volunteerism. As of June, Independent Bank has reached more than 7,664 individuals through its financial literacy efforts.
Interested groups are encouraged to contact their local Independent Bank office about financial literacy education. A complete list of locations can be found online at IndependentBank.com.
