Independent Bank recognized Erika Ketchum and Jordan Miller as the 2013 Ionia High School Athletes of the Year. As recipients of this honor, Erika and Jordan have each been awarded a $500 academic scholarship from Independent Bank.
The Athlete of the Year program recognizes excellence in the areas of scholarship, citizenship, leadership and athletic participation.
“The Athlete of the Year scholarship program is our way of supporting Ionia schools and fostering education in the community,” said Jennifer Meyers, vice president of community banking at Independent Bank. “I commend Erika and Jordan for their accomplishments and wish them well as they continue their studies.”
Erika is a 2013 graduate of Ionia High School, where she earned 11 varsity letters in golf, basketball and soccer over the past three years. She is also a Capital Area Activities Conference (CAAC) All Conference Performer, a CAAC Top Ten Scholar Athlete and an Ionia High School Scholar Athlete.
Jordan is also a 2013 graduate of Ionia High School, where he earned eight varsity letters in football, basketball and track. He is a CAAC All Conference Performer and an Ionia High School Scholar Athlete.
