Independent Bank helps bring local marching bands to the Grand Rapids Santa Claus Parade
November 21, 2008
As part of a 100-year holiday tradition, the Grand Rapids Jaycees Santa Parade will usher in the holiday season in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday, November 22, 2008.
In an effort to support local schools and enrich the excitement and sounds of the parade, Independent Bank has signed on as the parade’s marching band sponsor. Through their partnership with the Jaycees, Independent Bank is providing a $250 travel allowance to each band to offset transportation costs that sometimes limit the ability of bands to travel to non-school functions. In addition, Independent Bank has provided $750 in prize money that will be awarded to the winner of the high school band competition, which will be judged on overall performance.
The parade will begin at 10 am the corner of Michigan and Monroe Avenues in downtown Grand Rapids. Traveling south on Monroe, the parade will turn left onto Monroe Center, right onto Division Avenue, right onto Fulton Avenue and left onto Market Avenue.
Approximately 12,000 people attend the parade each year, which consists of more than 80 entries. For more information, visit www.santaparadegr.com.
