Independent Bank plans Tenth Annual Rockford tailgate party to benefit the Rockford Education Foundation

Independent Bank’s Rockford banking office will host a community tailgate party from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Friday, September 26. The tailgate, which will be thrown in partnership with the Corner Bar, Creative Concepts Plus and Herman’s Boy, will benefit the Rockford Education Foundation (REF).
Independent Bank has been hosting tailgates to celebrate Rockford High School football for the past ten years. Just recently, the bank began collecting donations for REF during the event.
“With so many members of the community attending the tailgate each year, it seemed like a great way to show our support for an organization that does so much for the Rockford community,” said Cheryl Koster, banking office manager. “The tailgate is one of our favorite traditions and we are proud to continue it.”
All fans of Rockford Football, supporters of REF and members of the community are invited to attend. The Rockford Ram and Independent Bank’s Swift! will be there to greet fans.
Hot dogs will be provided by Independent Bank and the Corner Bar and iced tea will be provided by Herman’s Boy. Donations will be taken for all food items. Creative Concepts Plus will sell Rockford logo apparel with 15% of the sales being donated to REF after the event. The first 100 people to come to the tailgate will receive a free Independent Bank frisbee.
“I would like to thank Independent Bank for supporting the REF and Rockford Football,” said Marianne McWatters, Chairperson for REF. “I have participated in the bank’s tailgate parties in the past and look forward to the event this year.”
The Rockford Education Foundation’s Rockford Schools and Community Calendar will also be available for purchase for $10 at the tailgate. The calendars feature artwork by Rockford area students and highlight important school and community dates. Proceeds from calendar sales help support local public and private schools, as well as community programming.
The tailgate party will be held in the Independent Bank parking lot located at 78 South Main St., and will take place rain or shine.
