Stephanie Dawes awarded $1,000 Scholarship from Independent Bank

Independent Bank has awarded a $1,000 educational scholarship to Stephanie Dawes, the winner of the 2007 Ionia Free Fair Queen Pageant. Dawes graduated from Saranac High School in 2008 and plans to attend Lansing Community College this fall.
As part of a larger Ionia Free Fair donation in 2007, Independent Bank provided scholarships to the Queen and her court. The bank has continued the tradition this year by again serving as title sponsor of the Queen’s Pageant and providing scholarships totaling $1,725 for the Queen, first runner up and second runner up.
“We are happy to provide this scholarship to Ms. Dawes,” said Kaye Weaver, AVP branch manager of the Independent Bank office on Main Street in Ionia. “We congratulate her on her win last year and wish her luck as she begins her college career.”
The 2008 Ionia Free Fair Queen Pageant will take place at 7:00 pm on “Independent Bank Day,” Thursday, July 17. The event will be held on the E!Park Stage within the Ionia County Fair Grounds. More information can be found on the Ionia Free Fair Web site, www.ioniafreefair.com.
