Independent Bank and Kingston students support Ronald McDonald House
May 09, 2007
KINGSTON, Mich. — Independent Bank challenged students at Kingston Elementary School to collect the tabs from the tops of beverage cans to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.
Once collected, the tabs were turned in to a recycling station to cash out the value of the aluminum. In all, the school’s students collected more than 283 pounds of aluminum.
The class that collected the most was treated to a pizza party by the Independent Bank office in Kingston. “All of the classes did an outstanding job of saving this year,” reports Tina Bundschuh, manager of the Kingston office. “We made sure they knew how much we appreciated the support.
“We have actually had a few parents and children from our community benefit from services offered by the Ronald McDonald House so it wasn’t difficult to stir interest in the campaign.”
The top five classes were:- First place: Mrs. Goward’s class, 65.75 pounds
- Second place: Miss Kolacz’ class, 64.25 pounds
- Third place: Mr. Kramer’s class, 29.5 pounds
- Fourth place: Mrs. Williams’ class, 26 pounds
- Fifth place: Mrs. Ruggles’ class, 23.5 pounds
