Independent Bank named Alpenfest Honored Industry

May 09, 2007

Gaylord, Mich. – The Gaylord/Otsego Chamber of Commerce announced in April that Independent Bank has been selected as the 2007 Alpenfest Honored Industry. The honor was bestowed by The Alpenfest Honors Committee in recognition of Independent Bank’s significant contributions to the community.

According the the Committee, Independent Bank has made significant investment in our community since purchasing 1st National Bank of Gaylord in 2004. Their beautiful new Alpine-themed branch on West Main Street has added significantly to the aesthetics of downtown Gaylord. They have embraced the spirit of Alpenfest for many years, encouraging their staff to dress in “Alpine attire” during the festival, sponsoring the “Sauerkraut & Sausage Supper” for many years and having a float in the Grand Parade. In 2007, they are sponsoring the return of the Scottville Clown Band to the Alpenfest Grand Parade.

The Alpenfest Honors Committee and the Alpenfest Board of Directors are pleased to honor the entire staff of Independent Bank with the 2007 Honored Industry designation.

The Honors Committee annually convenes representatives from the Alpenfest Board of Directors, the Gaylord/Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, the Otsego County Economic Alliance, and the community at large to review candidates for the Honored Industry award. Selection criteria prescribes that the honoree should be “a great friend to the community, should work to improve rapport between community groups, and have a significant impact on the community.”

As Honored Industry, Independent Bank will be recognized and saluted at the Alpenfest Honors Luncheon, to be held at The Otsego Club’s Special Event Center at noon on July 17. Tickets will go on sale in June.
